About Therapy

What’s it like to work with you?

Starting therapy can feel intimidating. You may wonder what it’s like to open up to someone new or if it’ll help. My job is to ensure you feel safe, comfortable, and respected from the beginning.

When you sit down with me, whether through a screen for telehealth or from the quiet of your own space, you’ll immediately notice that I keep things real. I’m not a distant, silent therapist who nods along. I listen closely, ask meaningful questions, and share tools you can use immediately.

At the same time, I’ll help you look beneath the surface, so we’re not just patching things up but getting to the heart of why specific patterns or struggles keep showing up.

One of my clients said, “Eric listens in a way that makes me feel completely seen and understood.”

In our sessions, you set the pace.

On some days, you may need practical strategies to calm your mind or navigate a stressful situation. On other days, you might want to explore deeper to make sense of your story, your past, and how it continues to shape your present.

Therapy with me is flexible because your needs change, and I meet you right where you are.

Here’s how one client viewed our session. “He’s more than a therapist – Eric is like having a personal guide I can reach when I need support.”

Therapy with me feels natural.

Clients often tell me they’re surprised by how natural therapy feels once we get started. It’s a space where you don’t have to perform, carry the weight alone, or filter yourself.

You get to be yourself – messy thoughts, raw emotions, and all – and know you’ll be met with honesty, compassion, and respect.

Over time, most people find they not only feel lighter in the day-to-day but also develop deeper self-understanding, more confidence, and a steadier sense of peace.

Therapy is wherever you are.

My sessions are online, so you can meet me anywhere in California.

Telehealth makes it easier to fit therapy into your real life. There’s no traffic, no rushing across town, and no waiting rooms. Many clients join from their office between meetings, from home after the kids are asleep, or even from a parked car during a lunch break.

One of my clients said it best. “I was nervous about starting online therapy, but it feels surprisingly natural.”

It doesn’t matter where you’re sitting because the important thing is that you’re carving out space for yourself. Therapy is your time to pause, reflect, and recharge.

About Eric Reyes, LCSW

I aim to help clients overcome life’s challenges.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California (License No. 120497) and the founder of Reyes Therapy Services Corporation. My mission is simple: to help people stop carrying their struggles alone and start living with more clarity, peace, and purpose.

I’m a Hispanic man who has worked for many years in the juvenile dependency system. That experience taught me not only about resilience, but also about the real impact of systemic and historical trauma.

I hold space for people from diverse backgrounds, encompassing all aspects of race, culture, gender, sexuality, and faith, and approach every client with humility and respect.

Beyond therapy, I’m also a musician. Some clients love weaving creativity into our work because music and art often say what words can’t. I also volunteer with A Home Within, offering therapy to youth and adults impacted by the foster care system.

The connection matters most.

What makes therapy work isn’t just the tools or the insights – it’s the relationship.

Clients often describe feeling genuinely seen, valued, and safe in our work. They say I keep it real while also bringing warmth and respect. That strong therapeutic alliance and our trust make real healing possible.

Here are some comments from two of my clients. “Eric is the one person in my week I can count on to be fully present with me.” “It’s rare to find a therapist this responsive – I feel like I have real support, not just a once-a-week appointment.”

Here’s my philosophy as a therapist and entrepreneur.

Something that makes me different is how I approach therapy, not only as a calling, but also as a business. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an international banker in the late 1980s and early 1990s. That experience gave me a deep respect for entrepreneurship, professionalism, and the importance of running things with clarity and intention.

When I entered the mental health world, I worked in community mental health. I’m thankful for those years, but I saw how that system can exhaust clinicians and restrict care quality.

Starting my private practice was a turning point. I never looked back. Running my practice enables me to show up fully for my clients, deliver my best work, and establish a model of care that reflects my values: authenticity, respect, and sustainable healing.

I believe therapy should feel like a partnership. You’re the captain of your ship, and I’m the lighthouse, shining light on what’s ahead and helping you chart your course. My role is to walk alongside you with compassion, honesty, and realness.
